W. Bountiful police future uncertain

WEST BOUNTIFUL, Utah (AP) -- West Bountiful City officials want to take a look at the future possibilities for the police department.

There may not be any. Early in the fiscal year, the city is crunching numbers for a budget.

Because of a tax assessment error, city officials expect to lose about $16,000 in monthly revenue and will need to pay back about $600,000. The police force for the community could be one of the budget cuts, leaving the Davis County Sheriff's Office to handle law enforcement.

Members of the city council voted this week to table any discussion of the department's future for at least a week.

Council members say they want to review all the options before finalizing the city's budget.
