Utah reports 2,370 new COVID-19 cases, 8 additional deaths over past week

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday reported 2,370 new COVID-19 cases and eight additional deaths over the past week.

The daily average for new cases was about 339.

An increased number of wastewater testing locations — 55.9% — showed rising or elevated levels of the virus compared to the previous week's percentage of 44.1% of testing locations.

The percentage of emergency room visitors who had COVID-19 continued to fall, as it has done for the past several weeks. This week, that percentage was just 2.27%.

Across the state, 122 patients are currently hospitalized with COVID-19.

Utah has confirmed 1,032,129 cases of the coronavirus and 4,989 deaths since the pandemic began in 2020.
