SUU leading Utah's higher education system in growth

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Spring semester data shows Southern Utah University continues to lead Utah's higher education system in enrollment growth.

SUU spokeswoman Jennifer Burt says enrollment grew 6 percent compared to last year. Overall the school's enrollment shows 3.5 percent increase over totals at the state's other public colleges and universities.

Burt says SUU's small classes, respected professors and affordability make the school increasingly popular.

Dixie State College, Utah Valley State College and Salt Lake Community College also saw increases.

Each of the state's three largest schools -- University of Utah, Utah State University and Weber State University -- dropped a few hundred students. Snow College lost more than 150 students.
