Survey sent to residents in several townships

Tom Callan reportingThe future of Salt Lake County government could soon be reshaped not by a vote but by a survey.

A survey was sent to residents of Millcreek, White City, Emigration, Copperton and Magna. Residents will decide if they want to create their own city, join a neighboring city, or remain unincorporated.

Stacy Adams with the county says, "I think a lot of people are excited at the fact they are being asked, and they can actually start to choose the kind of government that they want."

She also says, "There's been a lot of talk in the Millcreek Township about a possible annexation into South Salt Lake City.

These surveys must be completed by April 15. A law governing township is set to expire in 2010.
