Some say local animals felt Nevada earthquake

Cleon Wall reporting While the results of people feeling the earthquake in Utah were mixed, one group went crazy when it happened.

Temma Martin, with Salt Lake County Animal Services, was sleeping during the earthquake, but in a round about way, it woke her up. "My parrot, whose cage is right next to my bed, started flapping its wings and actually fell of his perch and flapped around for probably 30 or 45 seconds; and it did happen to be right around 7:15 a.m."

Martin says she found out later about the earthquake. She believes some felines at the shelter also felt something. "When they went in to clean the cats later in the morning, they seemed louder and more stressed than usual," she said.

KSL Newsradio had others text us saying their dogs were going nuts. Of course, there is no scientific evidence that animals know before everyone else.
