KEARNS — Secure protocols at three schools in the Granite School District were lifted Thursday afternoon, but police continue to search for adult shooting suspects in the area. The Unified Police Department was originally called to investigate a person with gunshot wounds at 4067 W. 4865 South at 1:30 p.m. MDT. Police said that person was critically injured. By 3:30 p.m. MDT, police continued to search for the shooting suspects. They are two hispanic males who they believe are "around 20 years old," said a Unified Police Department representative. One suspect is wearing a white shirt with dark bottoms, the other is wearing a blue top and blue shorts. The schools in question were Kearns Jr. High, West Kearns and Gourley Elementary. The district said law enforcement ordered the secure protocol out of an abundance of caution. Parents are asked to contact the Granite School District with any questions. During a secure protocol, the outside doors of the schools are locked and nobody is allowed in or out of the building, according to the Granite School District.
