SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Researchers at LDS Hospital are looking into whether exercise could delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease.

A group of seniors with mild Alzheimer's will exercise regularly for six months under the Brain Builders program to see if it reduces their rate of progression.

Participants will have their memory, thinking ability, activities and attitudes tested at the beginning and end of the study.

Other studies have shown that exercise may slow onset of the disease in humans and animals. Alhzeimer's affects about 4.5 million people nationally.
