GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) — A high school German teacher fired by a northern Indiana school district has filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleging religious discrimination.
The Goshen News reports (http://bit.ly/1izvWm2) 29--year-old Kevin Peck alleges he was fired by Middlebury Community Schools because he sent a faculty-wide e-mail indicating he was an atheist. Peck said he also spoke out against Northridge High School Principal Gerald Rasler's religious references during the school year.
Middlebury Community Schools Superintendent Jane Allen said school corporation officials have been advised not to discuss the complaint. After an open records request from the newspaper, Allen indicated Pack received poor performance evaluations and listed several other complaints, including saying he poorly managed his classroom, lost students' work, missed multiple staff meetings and was late several times.
