Police try to ID suspect in case of stolen check

(KSL News) Cottonwood Heights police are hoping the public can help identify a woman accused of trying to cash a stolen check.

Police say the unidentified woman tried to cash an altered check for $2,250 at Zions Bank on Fort Union Boulevard last Friday.

The bank teller and manager were suspicious of the check so they refused to cash it, and the woman left the bank.

Investigators say the check had been stolen from a mailbox in Salt Lake County.

They believe the woman and possible associates have been involved in other crimes such as ID theft, fraud and vehicle burglary in the Salt Lake Valley.
