MAGNA — Police identified a man who died in an early-morning crash Saturday near Saltair.

Aaron Roll, 26, was a Holladay resident, Unified police confirmed via Twitter.

Police arrived at the scene near 9448 W. North Temple St. just after 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Roll was driving a 1997 Subaru Legacy west on the frontage road adjacent to I-80, when it appears he drove off the road and then overcorrected when he tried to get back on the road, which caused his vehicle to roll, Unified police Lt. Brian Lohrke said.

Roll was ejected from his car during the crash. Lohrke said it was unclear if he had been wearing a seat belt.

Police were still trying to determine the exact cause and time of the crash as of 7:15 a.m. Investigators estimate the crash took place sometime between 1 and 2 a.m., Lohrke said.

There had been a concert at the Saltair earlier in the evening, but police did not know if Roll was leaving the concert.

A Lyft driver who was traveling east on the frontage road discovered the crash and called police, Lohrke said.

"Our condolences go to his family and friends," UPD tweeted.
