MIDVALE — A woman accused of hitting six vehicles while fleeing from police, including intentionally ramming three police cars, is facing numerous criminal charges.
Madison Lynne Muse, 28, was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with three counts of assault on a police officer, a second-degree felony; failing to stop at the command of officers, a third-degree felony; reckless driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident, class B misdemeanors.
On Feb. 2, a Unified police officer spotted Muse near 700 East and 7200 South and recognized her as the same person who fled from him the night before, according to charging documents. An officer in an unmarked patrol vehicle followed her as other officers set up nearby to perform a traffic stop.
Near Colorado Drive and Cottonwood Street, which leads to a dead-end road, police attempted to take Muse into custody. Officers then watched as "Muse put the SUV in reverse and begin to drive toward the police vehicles," the charges state, adding that one officer "had to jump out of the way while Muse rammed his police vehicle."
As Muse fled the area, she hit a parked car near Arizona Drive, and then hit a second pursuing officer's vehicle, according to the charges. She then drove toward a third police vehicle before she was stopped.
A total of three patrol cars and three civilian vehicles were hit, Unified police said. No injuries were reported. She was arrested after officers forced her off the road.
Muse was taken to a local hospital to be checked out before being taken to jail. At the hospital, police say she "excitedly uttered, 'I wasn't going to stop,'" according to a police booking affidavit.
