WEST VALLEY CITY — A 16-year-old was shot in the leg during a drive-by shooting early Thursday, police said.
About 3:40 a.m., the teenager was walking near a park at 4383 S. 5710 West when he was approached by a car and shot, according to West Valley Police Sgt. Scott Gillespie. A person walking nearby at the time heard and witnessed part of the incident and called 911.
The 16-year-old was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
Investigators do not yet know what led up to the shooting. Police are waiting to speak to the teen to gather more information about what happened, Gillespie said.
Police are searching for a black car, possibly a Honda, that may have been the vehicle driven by the shooter.
