ST. GEORGE — St. George police are searching for a man who fled after a police chase ended in a crash Friday afternoon.

Police were chasing two men in a car when the vehicle crashed near the Dixie Drive exit of I-15, according to St. George Fire Chief Robert Stoker. The car caught on fire but was quickly extinguished, he added.

Further details about why the men were being followed by police was not immediately available.

One of the occupants was taken into custody, but officials are still searching for the driver. Police described the suspect as a white man with facial hair and short dark hair. He is approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and was last seen wearing a long-sleeve gray shirt, black pants and dark shoes.

St. George police warned the suspect "may be armed and injured."

"This is not a shelter in place, just information to be diligent and aware of your surroundings. If you see someone in this area matching that description we are asking that you call dispatch immediately at 435-627-4300 or 911," St. George police said.
