SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place Friday afternoon at 540 W. 400 North. Police say one person was shot and rushed to the hospital.
Officers were called out to the area at around 5:30 p.m. after multiple witnesses reported fighting followed by shots fired, according to Salt Lake City Police Lt. Lisa Pascadello.
She also said that police received information that "someone may have been shot" before arriving on the scene. Then when officers arrived, they found a man in his 20s with a lower extremity gunshot wound.
Pascadello said responding officers administered aid to the victim before he was transported to a local hospital in "satisfactory condition."
As of 7:22 p.m., police still do not have any information about the suspect, but Pascadello said a dark-colored 4-door sedan was seen fleeing the scene.
Anyone who may have been in the area that might have some information about the case has been asked to contact the police.
