SALT LAKE CITY — Jen Shah, a former star of "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" who was sentenced to prison for wire fraud in 2023, has been released four years early, a prison spokesperson confirmed. Emery Nelson with the Federal Bureau of Prisons said Shah was transferred from a federal prison camp to community confinement overseen by the Bureau of Prisons' Phoenix Residential Reentry Management Office on Wednesday. The transfer means Shah is now either on house arrest or at a "residential reentry center," but Nelson said she could not disclose any specific location for privacy reasons. Shah appeared on "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City's" first season in 2020. She was initially arrested in 2021 and was later convicted of running a telemarketing scheme targeting elderly people. She began serving a 6.5-year sentence in February 2023. The Associated Press reported in 2023 that Shah had pledged to pay $6.5 million in restitution once she got out of prison and forfeit another $6.5 million, 30 luxury items and 78 counterfeit luxury items. In addition to her prison term, Shah was sentenced to five years of supervised release. Bravo TV host Andy Cohen additionally confirmed on his SiriusXM talk show that Shah would not be welcomed back on the show, but wished her the best in her next endeavors and stated he believed she could end up on a "reality show of some kind," but didn't know if he could see Bravo working with her again.
