WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) -- A Salt Lake City man killed last week in a single-engine plane crash on Maui was identified Wednesday as Alan Gerow.
Gerow, 58, was alone and piloting a rented Cessna 172 when the aircraft crashed into a steep and heavily forested slope of Haleakala on Thursday and sparked a brush fire.
The National Transportation Safety Board was investigating the cause of the crash.
