Missing hunter is found safe

It was a cold, wet night for a hunter who got lost Sunday in the mountains east of Huntsville. Search and rescue crews found him this morning.

Durk Haywood, 36, became separated from the rest of his hunting party late Sunday afternoon.

"He got separated from his son. That's why he was out there basically," says his uncle, Ralph Fredrickson.

Fredrickson says Haywood tried to keep moving through the night in the Wasatch Ridge area in eastern Weber County to stay warm. He was wearing only light-weight clothes.

A search dog picked up his trail late Monday morning. Word came around 11 a.m. that he had been found. Fredrickson says, "It's hard to explain, what a relief. There's been a lot of prayers. Love you."

Haywood was cold and hungry, but otherwise OK.
