WASHINGTON (AP) -- Utah Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson is pushing the Food and Drug Administration for better labeling on packages that include foreign-made dinnerware that may contain unsafe levels of lead.
Matheson is working on legislation that would address lead in dishware.
Matheson has already questioned FDA officials during a meeting of a House subcommittee.
Matheson says a warning label should probably be printed on the product or its packaging to warn customers that lead could be in their dishes.
More hearings are already scheduled on the issue.
