SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A federal grand jury has returned a kidnapping indictment against a Utah man who was found in Missouri with the body of his ex-girlfriend.
The indictment handed up Wednesday against Michael Doyel mirrors a kidnapping charge filed by federal prosecutors less than two weeks ago.
Deborah Jones' body was discovered in a storage container in her car in Branson, Mo., on April 21. The car was in the parking lot of a motel where Doyel was staying.
Doyel, 47, is due in federal court Friday. If convicted, he faces a possible death sentence if the kidnapping resulted in Jones' death.
Authorities say Doyel traveled with the body to Las Vegas and then east to Missouri.
In a separate but related case, he's charged in Utah state court with kidnapping another woman who was with him in Branson.
