Man arrested for trying to kill hotel employee

(KSL News) A man is in jail accused of trying to kill a hotel housekeeper. Police arrested Creed Lujan last night for attempted homicide and kidnapping.

Investigators say Lujan was staying at the Crystal Inn in West Valley and called for maid service. When the maid arrived at the door, he tried to get her to come in. She refused, and that's when police say Lujan grabbed her, forced her inside, then choked her to unconsciousness.

"There were injuries to her neck and throat, and the doctor told the investigating detective that these injuries very nearly could have been fatal," said Capt. Tom McLachlan, spokesman for the West Valley City Police Department.

Instead, the woman woke up. The suspect was gone, but police didn't have a hard time identifying him. He left key information when registered at the hotel.

The Lujan was later found in his car in Millcreek Canyon.
