Loud booms expected across Utah as military training takes place

SALT LAKE CITY – Loud booming sounds are expected this week as live artillery training takes place. The Utah National Guard said in a post on X that live artillery training will begin Tuesday and continue through Friday. "Most of the training should be conducted between 8 am and 8 pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday," the post said. "Loud booms are expected periodically throughout this time."

Camp Williams in Riverton will also be conducting live-fire artillery training this week "to help prepare soldiers for real-world scenarios," a post on Facebook said. The post said most noise will occur between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., but it is possible Utahns may hear booms as early as 6 a.m. and as late as midnight.
