Lawmakers say it's getting harder for Utahns to afford a home, or even pay rising rental rates.

Rep. Chris Herrod says the Political Subdivisions Interim Committee will meet tomorrow to talk about it. "Are we doing everything we can to allow affordable housing?" he asks.

Herrod says more cities should change their zoning to allow higher-density properties like apartments, town homes and condos.

Another lawmaker says the state ought to study ways to preserve manufactured- or mobile-home parks.
