SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A bill before the state Legislature would narrow the list of cars allowed in Utah's carpool lane.
The lane is currently open to hybrids and cars powered by propane, natural gas and electricity.
The bill, sponsored by Republican Rep. Todd Kiser of Sandy, would prohibit bigger hybrids from using the lane in an effort to match federal standards. It would also move cars that can either run on natural gas or conventional fuel out of the lane.
Drivers who already have their clean air license plates would be allowed to continue using the lane.
