SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A request from polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs that his case be sent back to a grand jury won't be reviewed by the Arizona Court of Appeals.
The Deseret News reported Thursday that presiding Judge Michael Brown had issued an order declining to consider the appeal.
The order was filed in Mohave County Superior Court, in Kingman, Ariz., on Oct. 1.
Jeffs, 52, faces four charges of sexual conduct with a minor in the arranged marriages of two underage girls.
Jeffs' lawyers' contend that his right to due process was denied by a biased grand jury and accused prosecutors of presenting misleading information to jurors.
The FLDS leader was convicted in Utah of rape as an accomplice for coercing a 14-year-old girl and her 19-year-old cousin into marriage in 2001. Jeffs is in jail in Arizona, awaiting trial.
