Alex Cabrero Reporting There's a good chance someone out there has information that could crack a robbery case they and don't even know it.
Now, investigators in Weber County want whoever called 9-1-1 Sunday night to call them back.
Ace Open Storage has been in business in West Haven for as long as even old-timers in town can remember. Just two hours before the New Year, though, something happened there that's impossible to forget.
Weber County investigators say two men broke into the business and demanded money from the man who was working there. That man was also living at the business. As he started to talk to the men, they began beating him, cutting him several times on his face. Then they took off with the money.
The thing is, as this was happening, someone driving by noticed something unusual and called 9-1-1. That caller alerted police, but then hung up, not giving any further details of the suspect's car or any small details that could zero in on the robbers.
Investigators would like to talk to that person to find out if there are some details they don't know about right now.
As for the worker who was beaten, he was treated there by E.M.T.'s but refused any further treatment at a hospital. He was back to work today and didn't want to talk to us on camera, saying he just wishes this was all behind him.
