SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) -- Federal prosecutors have asked to delay a trial for a former Layton physician so investigators can further study the deaths of six patients in his care.
Paul Ray Taylor was set for a Jan. 22 trial on charges that he illegally distributed prescription narcotics.
Prosecutors say they anticipate seeking a federal indictment against Taylor in connection with the overdose deaths.
A motion to delay was filed in Utah's U.S. District Court Wednesday.
Taylor, who worked for Layton Family Medicine, was arrested in November and remains in the Weber County Jail after being indicted. The Utah Division of Occupational Licensing has revoked his medical license.
