GENOLA, Utah (AP) -- The former town clerk in Genola has been sentenced to 90 days in the Utah County Jail for taking money from city coffers.
Traci Wright pleaded guilty in September to three counts of misusing public money and three counts of forgery for forging checks and depositing city money into her own account. Prosecutors dropped 21 other charges.
Wright, who was sentenced on Tuesday, will spend 70 days of her sentence in a work program.
Wright resigned after 12 years on the job in September 2007 after irregularities were found on the town's books. City officials estimate that more than $240,000 was taken. Wright has returned $104,000 and her attorney, Michael Petro, says she wants to pay back all the money.
