Film crew documents UDOT's I-80 bridge move

The film may not appear at the Sundance Film Festival next year, but the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT)is hoping to learn from watching a documentary of its own construction on I-80.

No major feat of construction is complete without a big film crew documenting it all.

Independent Film Producer Philip Lucero said, "That's what they hired us for, was to document the move from the bridge garden to the Highland location."

Lucero says he was fascinated with the big move, even though it wasn't very action-packed. He even brought out the big guns to film it all.

"We shot everything in high definition. We were using Wi-Fi wireless systems," he said.

Lucero says the filming was mainly for UDOT's benefit and possibly to show other departments of transportation. But, if UDOT gives permission, he wouldn't mind selling a few copies to people who want it.
