(KSL News) Police agencies across the state were out in full force overnight looking for those who decided to drive after drinking.

In fact, there was non-stop chatter on police scanners all night.

One alleged drunk driver in West Valley City was caught near 4100 South 2700 West, thanks to a concerned citizen.

Lt. Matt Elson, West Valley City Police Dept.: "We had a report of a guy who was drinking and driving erratically, possibly drunk, called in by a citizen who was following the white car you see behind me."

When police tried to pull over the driver he sped up, then lost control going around a corner and slammed into an oncoming vehicle.

Neither driver was seriously hurt.

The suspect was arrested and faces several charges.
