(KSL News) A new bill could ban law enforcement from imposing traffic ticket quotas on its officers.
According to the Deseret Morning News, Representative Neil Hansen decided to sponsor the bill after hearing from his constituents, who were unhappy with the idea that Ogden police officers were told to write eight tickets a day.
He's concerned quotas take officers away from other duties, such as patrolling communities.
Several police chiefs oppose the bill, saying they have never imposed quotas on their officers.
The house will now review the bill.
