SALT LAKE CITY — Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, split their time in Utah Tuesday at a fund raiser for him and a visit to military families for her.
Jill Biden spent more than an hour at the Utah National Guard to raise awareness for "Joining Forces," a national initiative to support troops and their families. The Bidens' son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, served in Iraq as a member of the Delaware Army National Guard.

Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, both are holding events in Utah Tuesday, but neither will make a public appearance while they're in the state."It's not just the person wearing the uniform, it's the whole family who gives service," she told those in attendance.
Meanwhile, the vice president attended a fundraiser in Park City. The event was held at the home of John and Kristi Cumming, who hosted a similar event for then-presidential candidate Obama in August 2007.
People paid between $100 and $25,000 for access to Joe Biden.
By contrast, Mitt Romney's events in Utah have commanded a minimum $1,000 per person admission. The top-dollar donors at a recent appearance in Bountiful raised millions of dollars, $50,000 at a time. The race for the White House is also a fundraising contest these days. And so far Romney is ahead.
