JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (AP) — The first female president in MacMurray College's 168-year history is stepping down later this year.
The (Springfield) State Journal-Register reports (http://bit.ly/1BpbKgg ) that the school's board chairman announced in a news release this week that Colleen Hester was leaving after eight years as the president of the small liberal arts college in Jacksonville.
Hester will continue to lead the college until after the 2015 commencement. Her resignation is effective May 31.
The release says the school will immediately begin a national search for a new president.
