NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — A man is dead after being shot over the weekend by a North Las Vegas police officer.

Authorities say the confrontation happened at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in a convenience store parking lot at North Eastern and East Searles avenues.

Police say two officers were conducting an investigation that involved the man and a 27-year-old woman when the man fled on foot.

One officer stayed with the woman, while the second officer chased the man.

Police say the man arrived at his vehicle when the officer used a stun gun on him. That's when the man pulled a gun and the officer shot him multiple times.

The man was pronounced dead. His identity hasn't yet been released.

Police say the 41-year-old officer has been with the department for seven years.
