SYRACUSE, Utah (AP) — Syracuse police say a 14-year-old boy was taken into custody after leading officers on a chase in a stolen car. A video obtained by Ogden's Standard-Examiner shows the Sunset teen speeding across the grass of Founders Park in Syracuse. The chase ended Saturday evening when the car struck a truck owned by a man who sought to block the driver from entering the park a third time.
KEARNS, Utah (AP) — Police are searching for leads in the shooting death of a 49-year-old man in Kearns (kernz). Investigators say the man's body was found inside a home Saturday. They think the victim was targeted, but are uncertain of the motive. The victim's name was not immediately released.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — About 200 people gathered in Salt Lake City to protest a deal they say threatens the future of The Salt Lake Tribune. Speakers at the "Save the Tribune" rally Saturday at the city-county building criticized changes made last fall to a joint operating agreement between Tribune owners and the rival Deseret News, owned by the Mormon church. The agreement slashes The Tribune's share of revenues from 58 percent to 30 percent.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah officials are warning smartphone users to check their insurance policies before tapping into ridesharing apps. The Utah Insurance Department says drivers for companies such as Uber and Lyft, who use their own vehicles, should also consult whether they would be covered in an accident. Some ridesharing companies say they aren't liable for any accidents.
