SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Senate is moving forward with ethics legislation that had been languishing for weeks.
A Senate committee voted Monday to send three ethics bills to the Senate floor that have already cleared the House.
Among other things, the bills would prohibit the personal use of campaign funds and ban most lobbyist gifts worth more than $10.
The package also includes a measure to amend the state constitution and create an independent ethics commission to screen complaints against lawmakers.
Other bills making their way through the Legislature would require that the commission meet behind closed doors and prohibit anyone from disclosing that an ethics complaint has been filed against a lawmaker.
