SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah lawmakers have passed a bill to let owners of wolf-damaged livestock seek compensation.
The Utah Senate voted unanimously to approve House Bill 32 on Friday.
Animals meeting the definition of livestock are sheep, cattle, goats and turkeys.
People can't get paid in areas of the state where wolves are protected under the Endangered Species Act.
Damage caused by mountain lions, bears and eagles is already covered.
Coalville Republican Rep. Melvin Brown is sponsoring the bill, which now goes to the governor.
