WEST JORDAN -- The family of a woman whose husband shot and killed himself and his entire family thanked the public Saturday for its support.

In a statement released late Saturday evening. Melissa Matern's family said: "Melissa was a beautiful, full-of-life, compassionate woman that always put the needs of her family, friends, co-workers, and most importantly her children first. Gabriel and Raiden were the joy of her life, and the three of them will be deeply missed." [CLICK HERE to read the entire statement]

Melissa and her sons, Gabriel and Raiden, were shot and killed Thursday by Melissa's husband, and the children's father, Justin Matern.

Following their murders, Justin Matern sent text messages to friends and family telling them what he did then killed himself.

Melissa's friends have set up a charity account to help pay for funeral expenses. If you'd like to help, you can donate to the "Melissa Matern Family Benefit" account at any Wells Fargo branch. (For questions, contact Shayla Stephensen at shayla_pew@hotmail.com)
