SALT LAKE CITY -- A driver slammed into a power pole and then took off. It happened Monday morning near 1300 East and 1700 South.

Police say witnesses saw the crash and led police to the truck just a few blocks away. When police arrived, they arrested the driver and found evidence of alcohol in the truck. They say he was likely drinking.

Power was knocked out for about 2,000 customers in the area for several hours but has since been restored to most of them.

About 26 customers will remain without power until sometime this evening.
