(KSL News) The identity of a man killed when a police car smashed into his car has been released.

We brought this story to you first yesterday morning. John Douglas, 27, of Tooele, was killed when he turned left in front of an oncoming police car at 4500 South Redwood Road.

Police say the officer had his car's lights and siren on at the time of the collision. He escaped with a minor knee injury.

Just blocks away, other officers were chasing parole fugitive Jonathan Burgess. He was caught and arrested.

It's still unknown if the officer involved in the crash was part of that chase or responding to it, but he has been placed on paid leave pending further investigation.
