WEST POINT -- A 15-month-old girl died Saturday afternoon when a dump truck ran over her.

Capt. Kenneth Payne of the Davis County Sheriff's Office says the child, Grace Hill, was playing with five other children in the backyard of her home on Aspen Cove Drive in West Point.

Her father, West Point City Manager Gary Hill, and a friend, Assistant City Manager Tom Hanson, were excavating dirt from the backyard so a trampoline could be put in.

Around 3:50 p.m., the friend jumped into a dump truck to move some dirt to a different location, didn't see the girl and hit her. He didn't realize what had happened until he returned and found Hill trying to revive her.

She died at the scene.
