SALT LAKE COUNTY -- Two serious crashes on southbound Interstate 15 in Salt Lake County made a mess of the morning commute.
One shut down the freeway at 8600 South while a medical helicopter landed. Around 7 a.m. a truck crashed into a trailer carrying two large pipes. Crews had to extricate the driver of the truck from his vehicle. He was flown to the hospital. No word on his condition.
A second accident happened on southbound I-15 near the ramp to 4500 South. The Salt Lake Tribune reports a car stalled in traffic and the driver got out. His car was then rear-ended by two other vehicles. The driver of the stalled car was reported in serious condition.
