SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A South Salt Lake man has been charged with criminally negligent homicide in an April 20 accident that killed a bicyclist.
Otto Telesa Sua is accused of running a red light in his pickup truck and hitting Gregory Hayes, who was riding across the street in a crosswalk.
Hayes suffered injuries to his head, torso and legs, and later died.
According to court records, the 51-year-old Sua later said he had not slept well the night before because of a cold and went to work that day despite thinking he should stay home.
He also was charged Friday with driving while fatigued or ill.
His bail was set at $5,000.
