So to inspire you to stick with it, we checked in with the woman who represented Utah on NBC's "Biggest Loser."

If you haven't heard of Heather Hansen, she's a determined woman with a fiery personality. She's inspired thousands of people in her struggle to lose weight, and a year into her resolution, she's keeping it off.

A year ago Heather Hansen from West Bountiful set out to be NBC's biggest loser. It was her New Year's resolution.

Heather Hansen: "Last January. Right about the New Year is when I auditioned."

"And I said, 'I am there and I am going to stand out. I'm going to wear a little pink bikini thing.'"

And wear it she did, even on the slopes.

Hansen lost 56 pounds on the show. She's pregnant now but is still maintaining a healthy weight.

It's hard work. That's why Hansen says committing to her resolution changed her habits, and therefore her life.

Heather Hansen: "Every single morning I have the same thing-- egg whites, wheat toast, fat free cheese." "It's a way of life, not a quick fix."

Her success has been tracked by television, magazines, and newspapers. She says that exposure holds her accountable.

Heather Hansen: "There were a lot of people in Utah that could be here. I'm not going to let myself down or let Utah down. I'm going to work and work."

Even though it was a competition, the "Biggest Loser" emerged into a support group. Hansen calls friends from the show in her weak moments!

Heather Hansen, Utah's Biggest Loser: "I don't care how miserable and boring it seems. There is nothing better than being thin feels. There's nothing that tastes as good as that feeling putting on a pair of jeans and saying, 'I look pretty good.'"

And there was nothing more surprising than the way her body responded from the inside. Doctors say weight loss enabled her to conceive.

Hansen is six months pregnant with her second little girl. So forfeiting the competition before its end was no Big Loss. Heather Hansen feels like she not only won, but also gained something in the process-- a life she always wanted.

Heather says a great way to meet your goals is to write everything down in a journal. She says that way you can see how far you've come and hold yourself accountable.

And if you won't do that, she says form a support group to help you through the tough spots.
