SOUTH OGDEN -- Mourners in South Ogden gathered for a candle-light vigil Monday night, honoring a soldier killed in Afghanistan.
Army Staff Sgt. Kurt Curtiss was shot while helping evacuate a hospital last weekend.
Curtiss grew up in Utah. Family members and friends remember him as a positive person who wanted to make a difference.
"I'll miss his tenacity and always lightening the mood, no matter how somber it got," said fellow soldier Bryan Druce.
Curtiss leaves behind a wife and two young children.
