HYRUM -- A man accused of prowling through a Hyrum backyard got shot in the foot.

Cache County sheriff's officials say they were called to a home on the 500 block of Eagle Ridge Drive around 2:30 Saturday morning.

When they arrived they found the home's resident holding a man at gunpoint. The resident told deputies he fired a shot. It apparently went through the suspected prowler's foot. Neighbors reported hearing multiple shots.

Deputies say the man who got shot apparently was drunk at the time. He was taken to Logan Regional Hospital, later released and taken in for questioning in relation to the shooting.
