WILLARD -- A multiple-car accident shut down northbound Interstate 15 in Willard for a short time Thursday.
The Utah Highway Patrol says 10 people were injured, including a 2-year-old. That child was airlifted to McKay Dee Hospital with serious head injuries and lacerations.
Witnesses say the accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. when an unsecured bicycle fell out of a truck traveling near mile marker 353 northbound on I-15. An SUV hit bike and spun out of control.
One of them spun out of control, hit the barrier and flipped. That is where that two-year-old child was riding.
Nine other people received moderate to mild injuries.
Now investigators are looking for the truck that started this all.
"We didn't see the person that lost it, but we actually had a witness who saw the vehicle without a plate. So, we're gonna do some follow-up see if we can identify the individuals that lost the bicycle," said UHP Sgt. Mike Tuller.
One lane of southbound traffic was shut down and all northbound lanes were shut down a few minutes to allow a medical helicopter to land to take child to the hospital.
All lanes have been reopened. There was some slow and go for a little while, but it looks like everything is running smoothly.
