Rod Zundel Reporting It's a major milestone for the Utah Jazz's longtime coach. We've seen a lot of Jerry Sloan's victories, but tonight was a special one.
This is an elite club Jerry Sloan was trying to join tonight. Only four coaches in NBA history have won one-thousand or more games. They are Pat Riley, Don Nelson, Lenny Wilkens, and Larry Brown.
The Jazz had to get past the Dallas Mavericks tonight to add Sloan's name to that list. They gave Jerry his one-thousandth win with a blow-out over one of the best teams in the west.
The Jazz beat the Mavs 101-79, and Jerry Sloan becomes only the fifth coach in NBA history to reach one-thousand wins.
After the game, the players and assistant coaches signed the game ball for Coach Sloan in the locker room.
