PROVO -- A 95-year-old Provo man missing for more than a day is safe and out of the elements.

George Jarvis left for a hike in Rock Canyon Park Friday around 11 a.m. but never returned. Police were concerned because Jarvis has Parkinson's disease.

Saturday afternoon a woman driving on University Avenue noticed something move on the side of the road. She got out her car to check it out and discovered Jarvis, trapped in an embankment.

"He had taken a fall last night. He did lay there on the ground all night. Apparently he was down about a 30-foot embankment and someone spotted him down there," said Sgt, Tom Hodgson of the Utah County Sheriff's Office.

Jarvis' son Stan says he is glad to have his father home safe. "If anybody knew what you were supposed to do, it would be him. Just very relieved that he was not only found, but found with apparently very little wear for the experience," he said.

Jarvis was treated for minor cuts and bruises at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
