SALT LAKE CITY -- One of Utah's prominent political families could make its mark in the federal court system.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Scott Matheson Jr., is interested in becoming a judge for the 10th Circuit Court of appeals.
Matheson is the son of former Gov. Scott Matheson Sr., and the brother of Utah Representative Jim Matheson. He also made a run for Utah's governor in 2004 as the Democratic nominee.
A slot on the court will be available in August, when Judge Michael McConnell is expected to resign, though it could take President Obama months to nominate a replacement.
