TAYLORSVILLE -- An alert mail carrier may have saved a home in Taylorsville from going up in flames.

The man noticed smoke coming from the rear of the home near 5100 South and 1100 West and called firefighters. When they arrived, the back deck was engulfed in flames.

Luckily, crews were able to put it out quickly, and damage was mostly contained to the back exterior of the house.

No one was home at the time.
